Invention for Unit 3
For the invention process we once again did invention activities. I am so happy this is the last one I will ever have to do. The process was helpful because it helped me decide what I wanted to write about for my critical review. I picked and film and that film will be transformers, yay, sorry Nadib for doing the same movie but maybe we could compare notes. My paper is due on thurday and I feel that the first draft is not going to be the greatest. I feel I need to watch the movie a few more times and do a little more research before the paper will be the way I want it to be. The invention process helped me to narrow down the points I need to get at and that I need to bring up the good points of why people should see the movie but like any good persuasive argument you need to show the counter argument for it. I think the counter arguments are bad but I made some up because I should have them. I found some in other reviews I have read for the movie but personally I don’t agree with them. This movie is like my favorite movie. Everything about it is good. I hope people enjoy reading it and what I write inspires them to see the movie or watch it again if they have already seen it.

Blogging 104
One way to promote your blog is to write about how to promote your blog. It is actually very simple. This thought came to me as I was reviewing a peer’s essay which was written about a profile of networks. By reading this paper I remember that I had to write this blog for English, where I have to write about how to promote a blog. His entire paper just speaks of how great it is for people to network and get your self out there. He also warns about parents needing to protect their children when using the computer. Networking helps promote yourself and it could help your career.

Remembering 9/11
A few weeks ago I wrote about a visit I had to the NYPD Museum. It was a great experience and I urged everyone who had the time to go visit it. Today I was watching the news and the Pope was speaking at the World Trade Center Site. This reminded me of another exhibit that I had seen when I went to the museum. This is what I can remember. I was also a bit inspired to write about this because of reading on of my classmates papers about her experience during 9/11. Her name is Marina, her blog is very interesting if anyone would like to read it.
During my visit to the 9/11 memorial, I had such an eerie feeling. I felt very upset and it brought tears to my eyes. Living in New York at the time that it happened and seeing the disaster out of the window of my school has had a big impact on my life. Although thankfully, I did not know anyone who was killed, it was still something I lived through and was very emotional for me. There were so many artifacts at the memorial that had an impact on me but there is one that stood out the most.
This artifact was a leather gun belt with a holster and attachments. The attachments were a shield with citation bars, a name plate, hand cuffs, and keys. These items were worn by Police Officer Moira A. Smith of the 13th precinct. She was killed in the 9/11 attacks. The belt looked like it was a hundred years old. It was tattered and extremely discolored. The handcuffs and keys were rusted and the shield appeared to be slightly bent. The metal citation bars, and numbers on the shield, “13”, representing the officer’s precinct were even more distorted. Even though they were so small in size, the disaster managed to bend them. I could not believe that someone wore this on their body. For all of these small objects to be bent this person had to have endured much pain. It made me feel terrible. The idea that this person’s family had to see their remains like that tore me up inside.
As I was viewing this artifact I received a phone call from my father. He is a construction worker at Ground Zero. He told me that they just found the elevator shaft that was missing from one of the Twin Towers, and they believed that the rest of the elevator was down in more debris. While digging, they found bone fragments. It was so ironic that this was occurred right as I was looking at this exhibit. I just felt like crying.
With all of this occurring as I was standing there in this museum looking at this belt. It made me appreciate the belt and understand its significance. Although the depiction of this belt gave off the idea that this person went through a lot of pain, at least her family had something to remember her from and be proud of her heroism. Now, the people who were just found in the elevator could also rest in piece. Artifacts such as this belt represent more than just a disaster. It represents the heroism and courage that these people presented on this tragic day.

Difficult Men
I do not understand why men have to be so difficult! Last night my friends and I went out to a really nice club in Manhattan. It was expensive to get in and the drinks were even more. Everyone was having a really great time. We were dancing and drinking and then my best friend, Monica, saw someone she knew when she was in high school. I said “hey lets go over and say hello”. So we went and started speaking to him and it turned out that he was good friends with the owner and go us some free drinks, awesome, right? Well while we were standing by the bar, a photographer took a picture of the three of us, meanwhile my boyfriend and her boyfriend were waiting for us to go back to them. Monica’s boyfriend had a heart attack when he saw us take a picture. After we got our drinks we went over to our guys and her boyfriend, freaked out on her. He started yelling in her face and saying he was going to knock the guy we were taking in the face. And then he continued with say how could she speak to other guys, and in front of her face.
At this point I was like, did he have too much to drink? Why would some one get so extremely mad for speaking to another person? My boyfriend didn’t care that I was speaking to someone else, I mean humans do socialize. It is in our nature to make friends and speak to the people we know.
So Monica started to cry and asked if we could leave. This sucked for us because we were the only way to get home because we brought our car and parked it in a garage a few blocks from the club. We wasted like hundred dollars to have our night ruined by a stupid guy. Why do men behave like this???

Picking a Flim
For english class we have to do a review of something as one of the essay for our overall grade. The review could be on anything you could think of. Some examples that were given to us were movies, books, essays, and a lot more. I decided i wanted to review a movie because in class we read two movie reviews and we also watched the movies. These two movies were Good Night and Good Luck and There Will be Blood. At this point i am still trying to decide what movie i want to review. I finally narrowed it down to three choice and they are: Enchanted, Transformers, or We Own the Night. Yes, i know these are three completely different movies that have not one topic or theme in common. I have watched all three movies a bunch of times because i enjoy them very much. Enchanted is a Disney movie that starts off as a cartoon that transforms into real people taking place in New York City. It is a great family film and i would even consider it a romantic comedy. It is very heart felt and just so good. Transformers is an extremely action packed movie where autobots, robots that can think and feel like humans and are aliens for outer space, come to earth searching for the allspark, a cube that can make anything electronic come to life. There are good autobots and bad ones, which are called dicepticons. The bad auto bots want to kill all the humans and the good ones want to help save human life. There are also very good looking people in the movie. I think I watch it like one a week because that is how much I enjoy it. The final movie I am considering is We Own the Night. This movie takes place in 1989 in New York City. It is about the major drug problem that was going on in NYC between the police officers and drug dealers. It focuses on two specific families one on each side.
I like all the movies equally and am having a very hard decision on which to pick. Does anyone have any idea on which is better to do a review on???

There Will be Blood part 2
Well, what an ending!! I could not believe how violent it was. Being that I didn’t see the first half of the movie I figured I be able to understand everything by the end, that is usually how a movie works, at the end everything is summed up and you understand what the movie was about. I was a bit disappointed with the ending because I still had no idea what the movie was about. It was also sad with someone’s head being smashed open. I think Orr’s review of the movie over all was good to what I saw of the movie. It also helped me understand the ending much better than I would have if I didn’t see it at all. The ending left me with many many questions. I had to wonder about all these characters I wasn’t sure of in the first place. I would say the title of the movie really did give justice because there sure was BLOOD!!!
